Home Decor Haul

PoundStretcher

So I'm back with another home décor haul! I have a penchant for little home pieces, and just can't resist picking things up here and there. Do not let me loose in Ikea alone.

In my last Home Décor Post I picked up a lot of glassware.  I still have the same theme in mind - a modern take on shabby chic, so you may notice that theme present itself through some of the items I have been buying!

Ikea
Mantle Clock- Poundstretcher
Glass Candle Holders- Home Bargains
Pot & Fake Plant - Ikea

I have been after a beautiful mantle piece clock for a while now, but none that I've seen fit the bill. Until I came across this stunning one in Poundstretcher! it has a lovely rustic feel to it, yet the design is very modern and classy. I purchased the two glass candle stick holders next to it from Home Bargains and plan to put them on the mantle piece too. The pot and fake plant are from ikea, and if you follow me on Instagram then you know I'm an avid buyer of real flowers, however, sometimes I feel like good quality faux flowers are just as good, and last forever! That's why I decided to pick up these two from Ikea, to add a bit of colour to the theme.

Aldi Flowers

Speaking of real flowers, my favourite place to buy them is actually Aldi! These were only £2.00 for the bunch and they last really well. The tall glass vase that they're in is from Home Bargains again.

Wilkos
 Mug- Wilkinson's

Another addiction I have is mugs. I love buying pretty, quirky and fun mugs! If you read my last home décor post you would have seen that I'd bought a mug then, so that means the collection is still growing rapidly- from chic glass ones to funny slogan ones, I can't get enough of them. This little cute cream pot mug with gold trimming is from Wilkinson's.

Cream Heart Mirror- Home Bargains
'Love, Laughter & Happily ever after' plaque- Poundstretcher
'Wash, brush, floss & flush'' arrow- Poundstretcher

The final pieces are all 'finishing touches' the wooden 'love, laughter & happily ever after' plaque is from PoundStretcher and when we first move in it will likely be placed in either our bedroom or my dressing room. However, we are planning to marry next year and I hope to incorporate it into a montage piece to celebrate our day.

The cute cream hanging heart mirror is from Home Bargains and again this will probably live in my dressing room as my other half isn't mad on hearts! The little hanging ''wash, brush, floss & flush'' arrow is too cute and I can't wait to find it a home in our future bathroom, again this was from Poundstretcher! They have some really cute bits and bobs in at the minute!

Take a Walk With Me

So yesterday me and the other half decided to go for a little walk around our local park and just spend a bit of quality time together away from technology. It was lovely to get out in the open, have a good chat and pop in and out of some cute little tea rooms.

I love the cute tea cups and pots the Tea was served in and the cake was sooo good! The tea shops are shabby chic and pretty, even the signs outside were nice!

We spent a while eating and sipping on our teas before setting off again, we spent a few hours walking around the park and saw lots of feathered friends.

I just had to stop for a while to admire the view.

It was such a lovely day to get out and about, I can't help but think sometimes we can get a bit caught up in our own lives that you forget to spend time with the people you love. I mean proper time too - no laptops, tv etc! We have made a pact to do it more often and I can't wait.

How did you spend your Saturday?

My Simple But Effective Haircare Routine

As of late I have been trying out a lot of new hair care products in an attempt to get that Victoria Secret looking hair. A lot failed the test, however, I think I have nailed a simple day to day routine.

Now, I only wash my hair every other day. I used to wash it daily, but found that it was really doing nothing for my hair. At first it would get really greasy but my saviour is the Batiste dry shampoo, trust me, if your hair's feeling a bit lack lustre and needs a quick re-fresh just spritz a bit of this through it and your good to go.

I have used numerous shampoos in my time but my all time favourite has to be the L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology. It gives my hair so much more volume and life, I have fairly thin, flat, straight hair so I need a product that isn't too heavy that it pulls it down, but also one that gives it more volume. I find this really does the trick.

As well as needing a boost, being blonde means my hair dries out quickly too, so I have two go to moisturising products. The first is the matching conditioner to my shampoo. I like to be a bit matchy matchy product wise and picked up both together. I really like the conditioner, It isn't too heavy but does provide a good dose of moisture.

The second product I use is this Aussie Miracle Recharge Moisturising Leave-in Conditioner, try saying that 3 times fast! I love Aussie's products, the range is just so good, and they all smell incredible! However, this leave in conditioner is the best. I love spritzing it through my damp hair and leaving to dry. It makes my hair feel silky soft and smelling glorious!

Finally in my simple hair care routine is my Heat Protection spray by Tresemme. If you straighten or curl your hair on a regular basis then it is a good idea to use a heat protectant spray to try and minimalize the damage the heat will cause to your hair. Again being blonde and having highlights means my hair is already quite dry and although I don't straighten my hair often (it's already fairly straight!) I still use the protectant for when I'm blow drying it.

Products aside another good hair care tip that I've learnt over the years is to find a good brush, you don't want a rough brush that snags in your hair. The best one I've found is a tangle teezer dupe from Home Bargains, it has fine bristles and a short handle for easy detangling and no snagging.

So there we have my Hair Care routine at the moment ( I say this because I'm always on the look out for new products!) I hope you enjoyed this post!

Festival Inspired Make-Up Look

After seeing all of the incredible Coachella photos, I thought I would give my own take on Festival Make-Up. I saw a lot of neutral, natural bronze looks and thought how perfect this would be for spring, as well as how easy and lasting it would be for a festival!

So let's get on with the look shall we!

Let's start with;

The Face

Start by applying an Spf containing moisturiser to keep your face protected whilst you enjoy being out in the sun!

I applied Collections 16 hour Lasting Perfection Foundation all over my face using clean fingers. I prefer to use my fingers as this foundation dries quickly and the heat from your fingers gives you a little longer blending time!

To contour I used is the Make-up Revolution contour and highlight trio, the contour shade is a lovely matte brown with no shimmer. Being fairly pale I have to be careful with the types of bronzers I go for as some can make me look very washed out or withdrawn.

To add definition I used Collections Lasting Perfection Concealer in a V shape under my eyes, along the bridge of my nose and the centre of my chin.

To highlight I used MAC's Cream Highlighter in 'Luna'. I love this highlight as it gives a lovely dewy look to the skin without being overly shiny.

To set my T-Zone I used Rimmel's Stay Matte powder in 'Transparent'. This has such good staying power.

Eyes

For my eyes I wanted a gold/bronze smoky look, I wanted to use a versatile palette that many of you might already own, so decided upon the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay. It's my most loved and most used of all 3 Naked Palettes as the colour range is just so beautiful.

I used the shade Half Baked all over my lid which is a stunning yellow toned gold colour, I packed this on to get a bold finish. Then in my crease I warmed it up a bit with Chopper which is more of a copper colour.

I used white liner on my water line to open up my eyes, this makes you look fresh and awake. Such a good trick if you've been up all night dancing at the festival!

For the liquid liner I used Maybelline's Master Graphic liner which is a lovely black liquid liner that is easy to use and stays put.

For Mascara I used Maybelline's The Falsies. It gives my lashes thickness and added length (with a little help from eyelash curlers!)

I kept my lips fairly simple opting for a brown toned nude shade by combining MAC's Crème in your Coffee & Chatterbox.

I hope you like this Festival/Coachella inspired look! Are you going to any festivals this year?

New Spring & Summer Purchases

Just recently I have been buying more and more pieces for spring and summer. The weather has begun to warm up here in the UK and it makes me want to put away all my thick winter clothes and buy more light pieces. However, the winter clothes will stay put for another month or so yet as the weather can be very temperamental!

I have loved the recent marble trend, for home wear and jewellery, so when I saw these earrings in H&M I just had to pick them up! Especially as they have rose gold drops on too *insert heart eye emoji* These are so very me.

I've been looking for a powder highlighter so a while now as I only have one which is MAC's cream highlighter in 'Luna' So I picked up this Vivid Baked Highlight from Make-up Revolution. I can't wait to try it out as it reminds me so much of MAC's mineralize skinfinish's.

I've seen these new Barry M Nail paints all over Instagram just lately and really wanted to give them a go, i'll let you know how I get on!

I can't tell you how long I have wanted a good blush palette, so so long. I have numerous eye shadows palettes including all 3 naked palettes so it was high time I found myself a decent blush palette. It's nice to have so much choice in an easy to carry case. I look forward to taking this away with me on holiday so I can create different make-up looks.

Finally I have these sunglasses and sandals, the sunglasses were an absolute bargain, 99p! Yep you heard right, 99p for a pair of sunglasses! I am so impressed with these and can't believe how good they look considering the price. The Sandals are from Primark and I love the white and gold metal hardware, they are so comfy too which is high priority on my list when shoe shopping.

So there is a few of my new purchases this April, have you found any new beauty gems for this spring/summer? Let me know in the comments below!

10 Blogging Blunders

Writing blog posts is something I love doing, but sometimes they can go very wrong. I have had some right blunders in the year and a bit I've been writing and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share them with you all!

1# So you've got a brilliant baking idea, everything's set up ready, the cameras in place and then- the cakes collapsed and the icings curdled. Fail.

2# Spending hours choosing your outfit & perfecting your make-up, as soon as you step outside? Rain & gale force winds. Thanks mother nature.

3# Digging into your delicious dessert before realising you've not even photographed it. How will anyone know how good it was now?!

4# Not being able to take any decent photos in winter.

5# Getting so excited over a new lipstick everyone is talking about only to realise it just doesn't suit you. Whyyyyyy.

6# Getting your mum/brother/partner/cat to take endless outfit photos, all look fine on the camera but as soon as you upload them? They transform into something terrible. What was I thinking!? That brooding mysterious look does not translate on camera. It could be mistaken for constipation.

7# Mass photo taking only to never getting round to actually writing the posts. Where does time go?

8# Going to try out a new restaurant and forgetting your camera. I can feel my heart-breaking.

9# Perfecting your post, putting the last finishing touches to it when.. the internet crashes. All is lost.

10# Keeping one space in your room perfectly tidy for photo taking, the rest looks like something off of the hoarder next door.

So there are some of my blogging blunders, please tell me I'm not alone! What have your biggest blunders been? Share them in the comments below!

No7 Complete Cleansing Set Review & Progress Pictures

I have finally gotten round to giving this cleansing kit a good test, I had a few other products on the go and really wanted to make the best use out of this kit, so I waited to review it. I have heard so many bloggers and youtubers rave about the Clarisonic, and really wanted to try it myself, however, the price put me off majorly. So the hunt was on to find a cheaper alternative.

I was doing my Christmas shopping in boots when I stumbled across this No7 Complete Cleansing Kit, with a brush similar to the clarisonic- let's just say it was off the shelf and checked out immediately.

The kit comes with; The Cleansing brush, Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser & Night Cream.

I have been using the cleanser and brush day and night for 2 weeks now and this is the progress so far;

Before:

As you can see my skin is very red, dull and there are a few pimples here and there. By no means is it at its worse, but there are a few blemishes and dry patches that needed to be looked after. My skin overall needed a good boost and a bit of TLC.

After:

Whilst my skin still remains slightly red the overall appearance is much brighter and healthier looking than the before photo. I still have the odd pimple but they have improved immensely and I am really happy with how clean and shiny my skin looks. It has definitely brightened my complexion.

I have sensitive skin but found the cleanser did not cause any dryness or tightness which I was pleased about. It removes left over make-up really well and helped to clean and re-fresh my skin. I love the cleansing brush itself as I really feel it helps to remove dirt trapped deep down in my pores, and gives the skin a good massage to bring back some life to it.

Overall I am really impressed so far and look forward to continue using the system to see how the results fair in a months time. I would definitely recommended looking into No7's skincare range as it is reasonably priced and I have been impressed with a number of there products.

What type of skincare do you use?

Capes and Kurt Geiger

What I'm Wearing:

Cape- Select
Polo neck top- New look
High Waist Jeans- Primark
Watch- Michael Kors
Necklace- Primark
Bag- Kurt Geiger

Sundays are usually spent either relaxing or at work for me, but because it was the bank holiday and the weather was looking up i decided to get ready and take a nice long walk with the dog. Here in the UK you have to make the most of the weather as it can soon turn for the worse. I loved the cape trend all through autumn, but to be honest, I never got much wear out of it as it was either too cold or too wet. Spring was the perfect time to get my cape on. The weather is cool enough to merit a jacket but not too cold that I need a coat.

This Kurt Geiger bag was a cheeky treat for me off the Mr on our recent shopping trip, I was uhming and ahhing over it for a while and he decided to make the decision for me! I am so grateful and I think I might be in love with it, I can't wait for summer so I can use it all the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed having a Sunday off, I love spending time with my family, but this Sunday was even better as I got to eat my body weight in chocolate and not feel guilty about it. Operation Beach Body is on hold for today.

I've been a bit more active on Instagram lately, so if you fancy having a look you can find me here , I can spend ages looking through it!

Hope you all had a lovely long weekend, back to work now for me!

Easter Creme Egg Cupcakes

Happy Easter! What better way to spend your day by baking some scrumptious Crème Egg Cupcakes?! These sweet, gooey goodies are so easy to make and taste incredible!

I'm still mastering the art of decorating, I think my icing needs some work - but to be honest how these taste means you not be looking at them long enough to notice!

You will Need:

Base:

115g caster sugar
115g Butter
125g self-raising flower
2 large eggs

Decoration:

125g icing sugar
150g butter
Crème Eggs

1. Blend the caster sugar and butter together, making a smooth and creamy mix

2. Break two eggs into a jug and beat until well blended

3. Add the eggs to your butter and sugar and mix until smooth

4. Gradually add your flour to the mix stirring well as you go, whisk mixture until creamy, thick and well blended.

5. separate your mixture into cupcake cakes and bake at gas mark 4 for 15-20 minutes. You will know your cakes are done if you use a tooth pick, poke it into the cake and on removal if there is no mixture on it your cake is done.

6. Take out of the oven and leave to cool for 30 minutes.

7. Now time to make the icing, mix your butter and icing sugar together and using a piping bag swirl the mixture onto your cakes.

8. Now the best bit! Break your Crème Egg into quarters and pop on top of the icing, allow the fondant to pour out into the cake. Yummmm.

9. Enjoy with a good cup of tea, or in my case a nice cold glass of milk.

Let me know if you have a go at baking these gooey sweet treats!

My Go To Sites For Blog Help & Inspiration

On my blogging journey I have come across a lot of sites that have helped me immensely, I still have a long way to go, but I have also come a long way and therefore I thought I would share with you some of the sites I have used to help me.

First Up Is the Help section, in terms of content and blog design here are the two main places I go:

Help

Dana - I Can Build a Blog - I love Dana's site she explains everything so simply that even me, the least technological person, can understand how to set up html coding and make a few small but significant changes to my blog. Dana also produces videos and informative tutorials that make the blogging process so much easier. If you have just started your blog I would definitely recommend a visit to her site, it explains everything from removing the border on blogger photos, to how to add your own buttons. An all round helpful and useful site.

Lauren - Elle and Company - Lauren's site has some amazing 'How to' posts, from how to get first time viewers to stick around to how to get the most out of your old blog posts. The site is beautiful set up, easy to navigate and thoroughly enjoyable to read. Elle and Company is definitely worth a visit if your a blogger as the site offers so much useful advice and important things to know about starting a blog. I have been drinking it all in and hope to put it to good use!

Blog Inspiration

Becky (Milk, Bubble, Tea) - Becky's blog is simply stunning, I could spend hours pouring through her crisp white photographs of her amazing baking or beautiful room décor. If you love glossy white images then Becky's blog has just the ticket.

Charissa (CharissaRae) - I came across Charissa's blog not too long ago and her style is impeccable. Her most recent posts featuring the upcoming 70's trend are so inspirational. Charissa's Photography is good too, she definitely knows how to pull off the outfit posts, something I would love to be able to do but I just end up looking very awkward! If your into fashion then I really would recommend heading over to her blog for a good dose of fashion inspiration. Be prepared to want to shop though!

Amelia (xAmeliax) - Amelia's blog is the perfect lifestyle blog, with plenty of food, days out and dreamy holidays. Amelia comes across so down to earth and bubbly making her blog a joy to read. She also has a very cute dog!

Chloe (The-Little-Plum) - I love Chloe's writing style, she comes across so well and in her own words ''sassy''. Her blog is such a fun read it really draws you in. Her fashion sense is also incredible and is translated into amazing photography.

Other Useful Tools

Pinterest - I am a Pinterest addict, I could spend hours creating boards and pinning whimsical photographs to it. Definitely a must if you want some photography inspiration, but not only that there are tonnes of inspiring D.I.Y's and Baking ideas. There's something for everyone on pinterest, bakers, home décor lovers, fashionistas, all in one easy to use website. I'll apologise now for all the hours your going to lose pinning!

Instagram- Everyone loves Instagram, out with your friends for a drink - instagram, good food? Instagram. Similarly to Pinterest I can spend an evening browsing through instagram, making notes on things I want to buy or make. I am an avid user too - find me here

Picmonkey- I've used Picmonkey a few times to edit photos or to create collages, it is a free to use site that helps you to make the most of your photographs. I mainly use it for my Round up posts to create pretty collages.

I hope that you find this post useful and can pick up some useful tips for your own blogs, let me know where you find your blog inspiration in the comment section below, I'm always looking for new blogs to read :)

10 Perks of Being in a Longterm Relationship

There's positives and negatives to all 'Statuses', I've been in a relationship for nearly 7 years now and it's funny to look back on how we were when we first got together and how we are now 7 years down the line.

Sometimes we lie in bed and laugh about some of the things we used to do and how awkward we were, I was so shy around his family that I would never go into their living room! I would always linger around in the hallway out of sight, fair to say I'm much more sociable now and get on really well with his mum (my soon to be Mother-in-Law!)

I thought I would share some of the things we think are the perks of being in a long term relationship- just for fun of course! Every relationship is different but here's our take on it.

1. Not Having to wear make-up. When we first stayed over night together I only took off half of my make-up before we went to sleep and I got up really early in the morning to put it all back on before he woke up! Now I feel comfortable in my skin without my make-up on and I can have a good cleanse before bed. My skin is very happy with this arrangement.

2. No more awkward 'who's paying' dates. This was always awkward, our first date was to the cinema, we were both young so didn't exactly have much money and I was unsure of how much I would need- was I paying for myself?  would he offer to pay? if he does should I say no i'll pay for myself? Aghhh! Dilemmas! Now we tend to split the bill or one time he will pay another I will. There's no more awkward moments- so glad!

3. Not having to keep up with technology.  We wouldn't have a clue how to go with tinder and all these other dating apps, I would get so confused as I'm not the most technological person as it is! haha

4. Having some stability.  Dating has never been my thing, I'm such an awkward person and I can be really shy around people I don't know. I just love having someone there who is only a phone call away, just to text on my dinner break or to cuddle watching TV. The little things are the best.

5. Never having to go anywhere alone. Those events where you don't know anyone who's going, or those where you get told to bring a +1, yep you will always have someone to drag along.

6. You have mastered the art of non-verbal communication. Sometimes all we have to do is give each other a certain look and we know what each other means, I only have to glance at my cup on the table and he passes it me. It's a bit like how I imagine being telepathic would be, knowing each others thoughts without even having to say them.

7. Being comfortable in silence. This kind of follows on from number 6 in the fact that you no longer feel the need to fill a gap, just enjoying each others company is enough - talking or no talking. Nothing is forced, no small talk. Its just comfortable.

8. Planning for the future. There's so many exciting moments you get to share over time, like looking to buy your first home together, wedding planning and even planning to have children. Getting to share memories is one of my personal favourites, I love looking back at the things we've done. It makes me appreciate the things we have to come.

9. Getting to stay in on Friday nights. I don't mind the odd night out for drinks, but in all honesty I love nothing more than putting my PJ's on, ordering a dominoes and cuddling up on the sofa- I know living life on the edge right here!

10. Being able to be your complete self.  We have our moments when we mess around like children, play fight and act daft, we have other moments when we are adults and are making plans for our future. We've shared sadness and joy and we can be completely ourselves, all of the time.

Just a few of the many things we regard as a perk in our relationship, is there anything you would add yourself?
