Weekly Wanderings #5 | Outdoor Cinema, Garden Goals and Gin drinking

This week saw us enjoying a long bank holiday weekend, for which I was off work! We made lots of plans and the weather was amazing for once.

It started with Friday which was spent with my lovely friends at Wollaton Hall's Outdoor Cinema. We had gone to watch Pretty Woman, armed with our blankets and the entirety of Tesco.

It was such a lovely evening, we had laid down our blankets and set our picnic up, then just as it gets dark they start the film. I would definitely take a blanket if you plan on visiting an outdoor cinema though, as even though it was a lovely warm day it does get very chilly once the suns gone in!

On Saturday, a miracle happened, we were up and ready before 9am! That's a rare thing for us, and we decided to jam pack our day full of activities, first we dropped the car of for its check up, then we walked to a lovely cafĂ© called  The Workshop, which was inside a store that specialised in upcycled furniture.

I was in love with all the chalk-painted pieces, and will definitely be scheduling a trip back in the near future! Also we got a full English breakfast, toasted tea cake, iced mocha and vanilla latte all for under £10.00. Bargain!

After all the yummy food we did a little mooch around the shops for some home bits, which I did an insta-story on. Then once i'd had my shopping fill, we decided to make the most of the nice weather and the fact it was still early, and took a trip to Attenborough Park.

We grabbed an ice lolly and headed down to see if we could catch a glimpse of the Sand Martins nesting, sadly though they were hiding. We did catch the Cormorant sunning himself though!

Sunday we just relaxed, saw our families and pottered around the house getting bits organised. We have a few huge home plans under our belts in the next few months so have been doing some planning for those too. We also have a trip in September coming up, we're off down south to Brighton, Hastings and Rye and I am so looking forward to doing some exploring as we don't get to go here often as it's around 4 hours drive from where we live! So we booked up the hotels and drew up some plans of things we want to see while were there.

Bank Holiday Monday actually saw the sun shining brightly and the temperature soaring!

I'm always looking at the NGS website looking for Open Gardens and saw that there was one not too far from us in Ashbourne, so that's where we decided to go. I adore pottering around beautiful gardens and this one did not disappoint!

We spent a few hours exploring in the sunshine, even sharing a slice of Victoria sponge, because we have no self control when it comes to cake.

Once i'd had my floral fill we headed over to Ashbourne centre itself to grab some 'proper' lunch and not just cakes. I really want to go back to Ashbourne when we have more time as there were so many cute little shops to wander around, but we just didn't have time, and instead focused on our hunt for food.

We stumbled across 'The Bridge' and it had a sweet courtyard area, that when we first arrived there was only us in. We ordered ourselves some gooey cheesy toasties and soaked up yet more of the sun.

We finished off our Bank Holiday as any good Weekend should, with a large glass (or two) of Gin. I'd seen the Cock Inn at Mugginton on Instagram and it looked absolutely stunning. It was even better in real life.

I tried a Strawberry and Elderflower gin, quickly followed by a Cherry Gin with a dash of lime and tonic water. Both were incredible, I would highly recommend.

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend, and as I publish this its another weekend already!
